Interview advice
Preparation preparation preparation!
Before the interview it is advised that you:
- Look through the job specification in detail, look at the key responsibilities/requirements of the role and think about examples from your recent work that you can draw upon to demonstrate your suitability for the position whilst you are in the interview.
- Research the employer – look at the firms website, find out about their competitors and check for any news about the firm by looking at sites such as www.thelawyer.com, www.legalweek.com and www.legal500.com
- Make sure you know where the interview is and how long you need to leave to get there, if necessary make the journey the day before.
- Prepare some questions for the interview and think about why you are right for the role and why you want the role.
- Think about your personal presentation – you would think this went without saying but it is surprising the number people that get this wrong – If you need advice on what to wear ask your consultant but a good suit and polished shoes is a start. Try to avoid arranging an interview on a dress down day, if this can’t be avoided let your consultant know so they can pre-warn the client.
Following your interview give your recruiter a call as soon as you can after the meeting whilst the information is still fresh in your mind this way we can get back to the client with your thoughts and get some feedback for you too!
